Running, Walking, and Driving Change: Our Annual Hunger Walk Run & Golf Classic Recap

“Do you remember… the 21st night of September?” Unlike Earth, Wind & Fire, that’s how we feel about the entire month of September! It was a busy and impactful month for Five Star and Feeding the Future, with two major events: the annual Hunger Walk Run and our Feeding the Future Golf Classic.

The Hunger Walk Run is a community event made possible through the partnership of Five Star, Feeding the Future, and the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. The Food Bank’s mission is to unite partners and the community to eliminate hunger by feeding, nourishing, and empowering those they serve which perfectly aligns with our mission to end childhood hunger through donations, goods-in-kind, and volunteer support.

On September 14th, seasoned runners, casual walkers, and passionate supporters came together for the second annual Nooga Hunger Walk Run. The goal: raise awareness and funds for the Food Bank’s 20-county service area. Every dollar raised provides three meals to children, families, and seniors facing food insecurity.

Last year’s inaugural walk raised $70,000 with over 350 participants. This year, we surpassed expectations, raising more than $100,000! None of this would have been possible without the incredible sponsors, vendors, and community members who rallied behind this cause.

But that wasn’t all for September. On the 22nd, we hosted our ninth annual Feeding the Future Golf Classic which is a day filled with big swings, laughter, and generosity. Thanks to our vendors, raffles, donations, and committed teams, we raised over $170,000 and donated more than $38,000 directly to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.

Whether through events like these, or even small acts like purchasing a bag from our Conti Cares line, there’s no limit to how you can help fight hunger. Together, we’re ensuring no one in our communities goes without a meal.
