Five Star Breaktime Solutions Acquires Krodel Vending

Five Star Breaktime Solutions announces the completion of the acquisition of the vending and coffee operations of Krodel Vending, headquartered in Jasper, Indiana. This acquisition strengthens Five Star’s presence in Southern Indiana and supports continued growth throughout the region.

Krodel Vending is owned by Dan Smith, the great grandson of original founder, Carl Krodel. Carl founded the company as a candy wholesaler to retailers in 1910. Dan’s grandfather Ray and his brother Rich began the vending business in 1958, which has served customers across Southern Indiana for nearly seven decades. Dan’s mother, Janet took over the vending company in 1979, eventually passing it to Dan in 1994.

The acquired business includes four routes servicing over 90 vending accounts, representing over 300 machines, along with two micro markets and 13 coffee accounts. The transaction includes vending and coffee operations only; Krodel’s wholesale business will remain active and continue operating independently.

The acquired accounts will be supported by Five Star branches in Owensboro, Evansville, Jeffersonville, and Columbus (IN), ensuring seamless transition and uninterrupted service for customers. Five Star will integrate the routes into its existing Southern Indiana operations, maintaining service quality while expanding resources and support for clients.
